Chapter 11 – Patience
JPOV
I sat at
the kitchen island and poured myself another glass of Jack. The day started out
pretty good I met Rose and Emmett, who were both really nice. They knew about
Bella and me and seemed cool about it. I was working with Lightning Bolt when
an older man approached.
"Jasper
Whitlock?" he asked.
"Yes,
sir," I said.
"I'm
Charlie Swan."
"Nice
to meet you, Charlie," I said as I extended my hand. He shook it half
halfheartedly.
"I
wish I could say the same, and that's Mr. Swan to you," he quipped.
"You
have an incredible track record with horses, that's why I hired you. I didn't
expect you to set your sights on my daughter. Bella is Edward's."
"I'm
sorry Ch...Mr. Swan, but I was sure Bella told me they were divorced some time
ago," I said. I watched as his eyes glazed over with anger.
"Well,
this divorce nonsense is going to stop. Edward wants her back, and he will have
her," he said in a matter-of-fact tone, dripping with anger. "Son,
you seem nice, but if you want to keep this job you better stay away from my
daughter. Don't make me say it twice. Have I made myself perfectly clear?"
With that
he walked away sputtering something about his out-of-control children and how
they don't understand balance and order.
I just
stood there, shocked. Bella would never take Edward back after what he did. Would
she? No, not after what we've shared together.
I finished
training with Lightning Bolt and was heading home when I overheard some people
talking about Rose and how she punched Edward in the nose. I chuckled. It felt
good to laugh. Even though I just met Rose, she seemed like a spitfire.
My mind
was in overdrive, and I wasn't sure if I was going to see Bella tonight or not.
What if she came over? Do I tell her what Charlie said? What if she doesn't
come over? Do I stay and continue to work here like nothing happened? I was
getting a headache.
~*~
I just
finished getting dressed after my shower when I heard a knock at the door. I
was so happy to see her.
"Bella?"
"Can
I come in?"
"Of
course, darlin'," I said, as I stepped aside to let her in. "What's
wrong? You look like you have been through a war?"
She just
stared at me for a moment. She closed the distance between us and kissed me. I
could feel nothing but pure lust from her.
"Jasper,
fuck me please," she moaned in my mouth. "I need you," she said,
as she started to shed her clothes. I just stood there looking at her
incredible naked body.
"God,
Bella," I moaned, as I picked her up caveman style and ran to my bedroom.
I tossed her on the bed and crawled up her body. My eyes focused on her very
wet center. I let out a groan as I slid my tongue through her folds.
"I
love the way you taste, darlin'," I said, as I slid two fingers into her
and my tongue licked and flicked her clit. She quickly found her release. I
kissed my way up her body, stopping to worship each of her glorious nipples.
"Jasper,
I need you to fuck me."
And I did
just that.
After we
ate and had a few drinks we found ourselves in bed again. I will never get
enough of her. I slowly undressed us both. I wanted to take my time and kiss
every inch of her body.
Our hands
and lips roamed each other's bodies. I lined myself up with her sweet wet sex
and slowly entered her, enjoying the feeling of her around me. I started
rocking in and out of her just taking pleasure in the sensation of our bodies
being joined as our tongues tangled with one another.
I
continued to worship every inch of her amazing body. I started to thrust just a
little harder and faster and her body responded. I could feel that she was
close. I started to rub her clit as I slid in and out of her. Within minutes
she fell apart around me, her juices covering me. I soon met my release and we
laid there panting, trying to catch our breath.
***
I just
laid there with Bella wrapped in my arms, enjoying the feel of her body next to
mine. I could sense her stiffening beside me. Something was off with her and
I've felt it all night.
"What
are you thinking, darlin'?
She said
nothing, just got up and fumbled for her clothes.
"Bella?
What's wrong? Talk to me."
She
started to dress and then finally looked at me.
"Jasper,"
she whispered. "I can't do this anymore. I can't be with you. You,"
she took another deep breath, "You need to leave, it's for the best."
"Bella?"
She didn't just say that, did she? "Does this have to do with your
dad?"
"Please,
please, don't fight me on this, just go," she said and she ran out of the
house.
I sat on
my front steps and looked up to the heavens. Why? Why was this
happening? I knew she cared about me. I was in love with her; I was sure of it.
My heart was completely broken. Why, Bella? Why? Do I leave as she asked or do
I stay and fight?
"Jasper."
"Emmett,
what can I do for you?"
"Can
we talk?"
"Now
is not a good time. I just want to be alone."
"Sorry,
I know something happened. Bella is crying her eyes out at the moment."
What was
left of my heart crumbled at the thought of Bella crying. "She told me it
was over and she wanted me to leave," I said, trying to keep myself
composed.
"Son
of a bitch! I'm sure this has Charlie written all over it," Emmett yelled.
"I swear sometimes I just want to punch my father."
"Would
you like to come in for a drink?" I asked, knowing we both needed one.
"Yeah,
thanks."
"Is
Jack okay?" I asked.
"Perfect."
I poured
us both a glass and handed Emmett his. "What should I do? I know in my
heart she didn't mean it. I couldn't have imagined the connection I feel with
her. I was sure she felt the same way."
"Jasper,
Charlie and Edward really have done a number on her. She is so messed up. She
feels that you're too good for her. I don't think my sister thinks she deserves
to be happy."
I could
hear in his voice how heartbroken he was for his sister, as well as the anger
he held for both Charlie and Edward.
"What
should I do? I don't want to lose her. I...well, I care about her a lot."
"She
needs time. She needs to work things out in her head. My advice is to go. I'll
keep in touch with you. Jasper, my sister is head over heels for you man.
Edward and Charlie have spent all day messing with her head. She needs to get
herself together. She told Edward that he needed to accept it's over. She just
needs to stand up to Charlie. Give her some time."
"Really?
You would do that for me, keep in touch with me?"
"I
have not seen a spark in Bella in a long time. You make her happy. Give her
time and she'll come around."
There was
so much brotherly love radiating from him and I was happy that she at least had
him in her corner. Maybe this would all work out after all.
"Thanks
man," I said as I patted his back.
"I
think you should leave first thing in the morning. This may sound harsh but as
soon as she realizes you're gone, she can start the process of sorting out her
feelings."
"It's
going to be hell to leave her."
"I
know. I can see how much you...well, how you feel about my sister."
I just
nodded.
"I
promise, I'll have her on a flight to Texas the moment she reclaims her life
and tells Charlie to shove it," he said with determination in his voice.
I let out
a small laugh. Yes, Bella was feisty when she wanted to be. She had a kittenish
fire to her.
"Well
Jasper, I better check on Rose and Bella. I know it will all work out, just
give it time."
"Thanks
for coming over, Emmett. I'm glad Bella has you and Rose."
"I'll
be in touch soon," he said as he left.
So here I
sit, staring at my suitcase, willing myself to trust that Bella will realize
what we have is worth fighting for.
