Chapter 2 – All I Need
BPOV
I try to reach for my clothes to cover myself as quickly as
possible. What was I going to say to him? I can't believe I let this happen.
"Here you go," he said, handing me a blanket.
"Thank you," I whispered, not able to look him in
the eye.
He reached over and gently tilted my chin up, so I would
look at him.
"Bella, what's wrong? Why won't you look at me?" I
could hear the concern in his voice.
"I...I've never done anything like this before. I just
don't know if...I..." He reached over and wiped the tear that fell down my
cheek.
"I don't do this sorta thing either, darlin', but there
is something about you that I'm drawn to," he said as he caressed my face.
“What happened was unexpected and incredible.”
"You don't regret it then?" I looked away, unable
to look him in the eyes anymore.
"Not at all. It was wonderful, believe me.”
"I, I mean I just have limited experience, I've only
been with one person before you, and that was my ex-husband. It was never like
that with him," I said in just above a whisper.
“What did you mean?
I took another deep breath searching for the right
words. "I've never felt like that before, I didn't know it could be
that way," I mumbled.
"I'm glad I could give that to you," he smiled at
me. A smile that made me melt.
"You're so tense. Come here and relax, let me hold
you." He pulled me toward him and I couldn't resist...I didn't want to
resist.
I lay in his arms, breathing him in. What is it about him
that turns my brain to mush?
I'm lost in the feeling of his hands lightly rubbing up and
down my arms, as he holds me tight and places little kisses on top of my head.
"Can I ask you a question?"
I nodded my head, unable to talk. What is he going to ask
me?
"Earlier, when I asked you to tell me about yourself,
why did you react that way? I didn't mean to upset you; I just want to get to
know you darlin'."
I sigh. ok, I can do this, I owe him that much.
"I'm sorry about that...I...I...just don't like talking about myself.
There's really not much to tell anyway, I'm not very...interesting."
"I beg to differ, I find you fascinating," he
said. "Are you hungry?"
"Yes."
"Well, then let's get dressed and I'll heat up
dinner."
We both get dressed. It's a little awkward, shuffling around
for our clothes. We head for the kitchen; he pours himself a glass of wine and
looks at me. Oh, those eyes will be the death of me.
"Would you like a glass?"
"Yes please. Is there anything I can do to help?"
"No, darlin'. You just sit and I will have it ready in
no time."
I sat down at the island and happily watched him. He reheats
the sauce, runs hot water over the pasta, and slices the bread.
"So, what do you do for fun around these parts?"
he asks.
"Not much, it's pretty boring here in Lexington. There
is this one bar and grill called The Roadhouse that Alice and I hang out at.
They have good bands and karaoke, and of course you can't forget Jesus Tomb the
Bible themed mini golf place." I giggle.
"Mini golf...Bible themed as in the Bible?"
I nodded because I was laughing so hard.
"I haven't played that in a while," he laughs.
"Who is Alice?"
"She's my best friend and ex-husband's sister. We're
still close even though..." I trail off.
He turns to face me and sets my plate down. He sits down
next to me. I wait for a reaction and get nothing. I'm twenty-one, divorced and
he doesn't seem to care?
"Even though you're no longer married to her
brother," he finishes my sentence for me.
"Yes," I say in a weak voice.
"Bella, there is nothing to be ashamed of. People get
divorced all the time."
"Not in my family. Both our families tried to
talk me into looking the other way," I quip.
"Looking the other way?" he sounded angry.
"So, he was unfaithful?"
"Yes, a lot. I was the last one in the town to
know...or maybe I just didn't want to admit it to myself."
"I'm sorry, that must've been hard to deal with."
"Yes, especially when everyone thinks you should suck
it up and look the other way. Well, except Emmett, he wanted to kill him."
"I bet he did, but why would your father want you to
stay with him?"
"Well, my father cheated on my mother, Renee, and she
left him, and Susan just looks the other way. Now, if Emmett would ever cheat
on Rose...she would kill him.
"Enough about me," I say, changing the subject as
quickly as possible. "Tell me about you?"
"Well, I was born and raised in Galveston, Texas. My
parents, Garrett and Maggie, grew up there. I have an older brother Peter, who
is married to Charlotte, and they have a beautiful five-year-old girl, named
Maria." He lit up when he talked about his family.
We finished dinner and I got up and tried to clear my plate.
He stopped me.
"Darlin', relax, I got it. Would you like more
wine?"
"No thanks, I'm not really much of a wine
drinker."
"I have some beer in the fridge, thanks to Susan,"
he laughs.
"A beer would be perfect."
"A girl after my own heart," he says with a smirk.
"Here you go."
"So, Jasper, did you grow up on a horse farm?"
"No, my first job when I was sixteen was on a farm, you
know bailing hay, grooming, cleaning stalls. I quickly fell in love with the
horses and wanted to learn everything I could. The owner, Sam Uley, took me
under his wing and taught me all he knew."
We take our drinks and head for the living room. Where the
rest of the night was spent curled up on his sofa, talking and laughing about
everything and anything. It felt good to just let go at to end.
"Oh my, it's late, I better go," I go to stand up
and he stops me.
"Stay."
"Jasper?" He's looking at me with those blue eyes.
I am paralyzed.
"Please," he says as he leans in to kiss me.
The kiss starts off sweet and becomes intense very quickly.
He pulls me closer to him. I wrap my arms around his neck, and his tongue
pushes my lips apart and enters my mouth. He slowly lowers me to the sofa and
is hovering over me, looking into my eyes. It feels like he's looking deep into
my soul.
"Stay with me Bella, please."
He's panting and I can feel his arousal. My body is aching
for his touch. I want to stay and my body needs me to stay.
"Ok, I will," is all I managed to squeak out.
He picks me up off the couch, carries me to the bedroom and
places me on the bed. My head is swimming with all things Jasper. He places
feather-light kisses down my neck.
"I want to worship your body, Bella," he whispers
in my ear. "Would you like that darlin'?"
"Yes," I moan as his hands roam my body.
I woke up the next morning to the sun shining through the
window and the birds chirping. I am wrapped in Jasper's arms, and the
incredible night we spent together comes flooding back. It's like he owned a
map to my body, he knew just what do to send me over the edge.
Last night was the most amazing night of my life. Which made
me happy and sad at the same time. Why was it never like that with Edward? I
loved Edward with all my heart, but sex was never like that.
I look up at Jasper's beautiful face as I watch him sleep,
scared to death of what the future holds for us, if anything. My heart was
still shattered from Edward. Was I ready for this?
