Chapter 16 – Angel Eyes
JPOV
After my
phone call with Emmett, I finally felt some hope. Hope that this would all be
over soon and I'd have Bella in my arms.
Saturday
came and went as I made the arrangements for Bella and I to have a perfect week
together. Peter was going to help me get the house ready tomorrow.
I sat down
on the porch with a beer and the emotional weight of the past week hit me. I
closed my eyes and my mind wandered to all things Bella. Her scent, her laugh,
her smile, and mostly her body. I loved her body.
I got
startled by the sudden ringing of my phone. I looked down to see who was
calling, I took a deep breath and answered it.
"Bella?"
My mind was racing. I was so happy she was calling, but at the same time I was
scared to death.
"Jasper,"
she whispered. "I'm so sorry," she said between sobs.
"Shhh
Bella. It's going to be okay. I miss you darlin'," I said, trying to
soothe her.
"I
miss you too," she cried. "Can you ever forgive me?"
"None
of this was your fault and it's over and done with. You'll be with me on Monday
night. We'll have the whole week to talk and figure this all out," I
assured her.
"I
can't wait to be with you," she said as she let out a long yawn.
"Get
some sleep, beautiful. You'll be in my arms soon."
"Night,
Jasper."
"Night,
darlin'."
I hung up and
a wave of peace went through me. Two short days she would be in my arms.

Peter and
I spent Sunday getting things ready for Bella. We were at the house hanging out
and drinking a few beers outside.
"Jasper,
this is the happiest I've seen you since you came back," Peter said.
"Tomorrow
she'll be with me, where she belongs," I replied with a big smile on my
face.
"You're
in love with her, aren't you?" It sounded more like a statement than a
question.
"I
know it's crazy, but yes I am. I haven't known her for long, but I just know
she is it for me," I explained.
"It's
not crazy. I knew I would marry Char the minute I laid eyes on her. You know,
Dad felt the same way about Mom. They knew each other for three weeks and got
married. Us Whitlock men, we fall in love once and it's powerful and
forever."
My mind
wandered back to Bree. I loved her deeply, but I now know I wasn't in love with
her.
"Where
did you go?" he asked.
"I
was thinking about Bree. I loved her, but the way I love Bella is all
consuming. It's like I was missing a piece of myself without her, like she
completes me."
"What
you and Bree had was good, but I always knew that you guys weren't end game for
each other," he said, smiling at me." "I can't wait to meet
Bella, and I'll tell you Char and Mom are going crazy counting the hours till
they can meet the women who stole your heart," he said as he burst out
laughing.
I let out
a groan. "Great Char and Mom. I feel sorry for Bella."
"Don't
worry man. They'll love her."
I nodded
my head knowing it was true. She loved me and I loved her so, my family would
be over the top with happiness for me.
Peter
tossed me another beer. "Does Bella feel the same about you?" he
inquired.
"I
believe she does. I just know that we'll be together forever," I replied
with conviction as I popped open my beer.
Peter
smiled and nodded. He lifted his beer. "To your forever."
I lifted
my beer. "Yes, to forever."
We hung
out for the rest of the night until Char and Maria came to get him.
"Uncle
Jasper!" Maria yelled as she ran into my arms.
"Hey
peanut," I said as I ruffled her hair.
"Are
you ready for tomorrow, Jasper?" Char asked, as Peter approached her and
put his arms around her waist.
"I
sure am."
"I,
for one, can't wait to meet her," Char said as she beamed.
"Uncle
Jasper has a girlfriend," Maria sang. "Uncle Jasper are you going to
kiss her like Mommy and Daddy?"
"I
sure hope so," I replied as I planted a kiss on her nose.
"Kissing
is gross. I'm never gonna kiss any boy," Maria informed us.
"Good,"
Peter said, as Char and I laughed.
The rest
of the night was spent watching Peter and his family interact with each other.
I always thought that I had a great life. But for the first time I was jealous
of my brother. I wanted that; the happy marriage, the beautiful daughter, and I
wanted that with Bella.
Monday
morning came and went. I was so happy to be heading to the airport. I parked
and found the nearest monitor to check and see if her flight was on time. I was
pleased to see that it was, as the waiting was going to kill me for sure. Just
when I thought I would lose my mind, I saw her. The sight of her took my breath
away. I couldn't move. I just watched her as she walked towards baggage claim
and grabbed her luggage off the conveyer belt. I couldn't take being away from
her for one more second. I needed to feel her in my arms. It's been too long
and that ends now.
She walked
over to a bench and placed her bags on the floor, biting her lower lip as she
looked around. I started to approach her, and she was completely oblivious to
my presence, at first. She was looking everywhere but in my direction.
"Bella,"
I said with all the love and joy I had in me.
Her head
turned and our eyes met. She dropped everything and closed the distance between
us.
"Jasper,"
she replied with tears in her eyes, as she jumped into my arms.
"Bella,"
I whispered as my lips touched hers. I felt overwhelming peace for the first
time in a week. I had my angel in my arms.
